ABOUT ME

Manuela Thews (* August 18, 1989, Heppenheim a. d. Bergstrasse) currently lives and works in Schwerin (Germany) as an M.A. conservator for wall paintings and stone objects for the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments.

Even in her youth she was very interested in art and was drawing and painting in the studio of a freelance artist, where she learned about different materials and techniques.
In 2010 she decided to study conservation in Cologne, where she lived for 12 years. Her preference for colored pencil and pencil drawings emerged early on. In recent years, monochrome ink and fineliner drawings have been added, which make highly precise work possible thanks to very fine line widths. Inspired by current social issues, a series of images of contrasts was created: nature meets industry - natural forms with functional inner workings made of gears and pipes - reality meets the fantastic.
